The Book Swap SOLD OUT

£650.00

Byard Art Gallery asked if I would send them a small scene in time for summer. I’d had an idea for a book swap on a tree for a while and thought it would be perfect for the summer months. Thoughts of leaning against a big leafy tree in the dappled sunlight…

Mother Cow and her little calf make an appearance as they so often do. Mother Cow is holding a blue book with gold lettering and Calf snoozes close by her side.

I made the tree by rolling a piece of porcelain paperclay around a branch I found in the woods, I made small branches for the top and added tiny holes just big enough to hold the wired leaves. I’m not sure how many tiny leaves I made but it was alot! They all slotted nicely into the holes with some glue for extra security. Oh and you’ve probably noticed a teeny hooting owl in a hole in the trunk – she helps Mother Cow keep watch over Calf.

This scene is in 4 pieces which hopefully the images make clear – the green and gold speckled earth, the tree, Mother Cow and Calf.
